British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Tragic Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities confirmed on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
Joshua had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.
Remembering the Victims
The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the loss of his two close friends.”
His release from the hospital follows the boxing community shared condolences for the star in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
