FC Barcelona Set to Play Inaugural Fixture at Upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday
Barcelona have announced their first game will take place at the partially upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Bilbao team in La Liga two and a half years since relocating so building work could begin.
“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited but 45,401 spectators are permitted inside under the licence granted. Once fully finished, it will accommodate over 104,000 attendees, increasing from the former 99,000. Officials confirmed finished work included an updated entryway for the team plus modern locker rooms.
Stadium Testing
Barça organized a fan-accessible workout on the home pitch in early November. They mentioned approval is being pursued from Uefa to play their next home Champions League game facing Eintracht on 9 December at Camp Nou. Their recent games have been held at Estadio OlĂmpic LluĂs Companys.
