Pat Bamford Joins Sheffield United Despite Initiating Derogatory Songs Targeting Coach Wilder

Patrick Bamford has signed with the Championship side only seven months after leading insulting taunts targeting the team's coach, Chris Wilder.

This experienced striker, a free agent after departing from Leeds, has agreed to a contract joining the second-tier club in difficulty through the winter. His lengthy time with Leeds was ended amicably in August.

Among the player's final notable acts as a Leeds player was to lead insulting songs about Chris Wilder during Leeds' success festivities in April. Currently, the former England player is set to play for Wilder as Sheffield United's boss seeks to rescue his beloved club out of the relegation zone.

Past Conflict Involving the Striker & the Manager

The pair had history before Leeds won promotion back to the Premier League last season while Sheffield United were defeated in the promotion decider to Sunderland. The manager called the forward as a "muppet" when the situation was different in 2018-19 and the Blades won direct promotion whereas Leeds United missed out in the promotion playoffs.

Reconciliation and Looking Ahead

All appears to have been resolved with Sheffield United, the league's least productive attack, urgently requiring of a boost in attack while Bamford aiming to revive his playing days.

The song about Wilder gained traction this spring. A repentant Patrick and the Leeds manager, Daniel Farke, called the Sheffield United manager the next day.

Chris Wilder said at the time: “Spoke with Pat recently and I’ve no issue whatsoever with that. I’m not sure regarding the words used from a fellow professional! However I valued and admired him calling me.

“We had 20 minutes and similarly I talked with Daniel Farke too and we had a longer discussion together and he is a super guy, a class act. Back in my playing days we would give it and accept it and that is part and parcel of football at every level, including Sunday league. I've got absolutely no issue. I'm fine with it and I said that to Patrick.”

Latest Playing Struggles

Bamford featured in 18 appearances with Leeds United last season but the former Forest, Chelsea and Middlesbrough player has struggled with fitness issues over the past few seasons.
