The network's Premier New Show of 2025 Earns a Significant Extension for an Additional Two Seasons.

Last October, Adult Swim saw the return of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, not long after, the network unveiled a completely new animated series with a distinctly unique vibe. Haha, You Clowns was sweet and soothing, reminiscent of a animated take of a serene talk show. At a time often defined by bleakness, this show's earnestness resonated deeply and helped it become a surprise hit.

A Two-Season Greenlight

In mid-December, the network made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for a further two seasons. This offers showrunner Joe Cappa significant creative freedom to expand upon the story of the Campbell family. The show follows three well-mannered teenage brothers whose central trait is their deep love for their widowed father, with Cappa portraying for all four main characters.

"I’m so grateful to the viewers of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and shared it with others," remarked Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for seasons to come."

Network Praise

The official statement also included laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and uniquely eerie." He thanked the fans who discovered the show and championed its distinctly quirky style.

"All of you supported this new show, rooted for it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was praised as "a comforting antidote" to other adult animated fare. It offers something deeply soothing about observing this endearing family navigate their simple existence.

At the time, creator Joe Cappa stated his goal to help comedy break out of its prevailing cynical streak. He attributed this trend to various cultural shifts.

“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we keep returning to,” noted Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we just have to laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.”

Future Seasons

Now, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa may well be part of that change he described. At a minimum, the renewal guarantees audiences additional episodes to bask in the gentle humor of the endearing Campbell clan.

The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. All episodes is available for streaming on HBO Max.
